It used to be known as National Photography Week. Now it's PhotoWorldAsia (PWA). Let's support our very own way of celebrating Philippine photography. Here's the press release:
It’s barely three weeks to go and everything is set for PhotoWorld
Asia 2013, the largest and longest-running photography trade show and
convention happening on January 31-February 5. The speakers, the
sponsors, the secretariat, the venues and the delegates – all are ready
for the big rollout on opening day.
The latest detail to be finalized is the venue for the hands-on photo
shoot with American professional photographer Joe McNally and the other
convention speakers. FPPF Chairperson Mrs. Eduviges Y. Huang said it
will be held at the Fernwood Gardens in Quezon City, a favorite wedding
venue with a lush tropical garden setting. “The hands-on shoot with the
guest speakers and delegates will include Body Painting, Cosplay, and
Fashion models,” Mrs. Huang said.
The Fernwood hands-on workshop on February 5 with the master
photographers is a separate event outside of the 5-day international
photographers’ convention. Delegates are invited to attend the Fernwood
event to shoot with the masters.
The PhotoWorld Asia trade show and international photographers
convention is an annual event run by the Federation of Philippine
Photographers Foundation (FPPF) without fail since 1995. The trade show
at the Ayala Malls in Glorietta, Makati showcases the latest cameras and
gadgets from major companies like Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Samsung,
Panasonic, Fujifilm, Kodak, and many others while the international
photographers’ convention at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM)
also in Makati will have master photographers as speakers topbilled by
world renowned US professional photographer Joe McNally and his first
assistant Drew Gurian.
Filipino masters who will also share their expertise with convention
delegates are: Allan Razo, G-nie Arambulo, Revoli Cortez, Edwin
Bacasmas, Nap Jamir II, Dan Pamintuan, Prof. Cecilia Manikan, Edwin
Loyola, Jomel Gregorio, Nick Tuason, Jay Tablante and Arnel Murillo.
Chairman of PhotoWorld Asia 2013 is multi-awarded lady photographer
Cris Cleofas, immediate past president of Alpha Camera Club. The trade
show at the Activity Center of Glorietta is open to the public for free.
Vendors at the trade show traditionally offer big discounts during the
event. The international photographers convention at the AIM and the
hands-on photo shoot with the masters require paid registration.
Delegates who come from the provinces and abroad may check-in with the
AIM Hotel at discounted rates.

Professional Wedding Photography
Yes I do!...professional wedding photography, that is...since 2002 in Miami, Florida. Yours truly even have been conducting wedding photography workshops in the famous Fort Santiago under the FPPF since 2011. Recent teaching commitments (photography-of course) with the University of the Philippines (College of Fine Arts) and St. Benilde's School of Design and Arts have found me happiest. And I owe most of my photo and teaching skills to Bug Nieva and in the late Victor Aquino. Unbeknown to most: yours truly is training the next generation of pro wedding photographers in the land!
Wedding photography is that rare genre of photography (like in advertising photography) that incorporates other disciplines of photography under tight time constraints, with no time for reshoots! To keep sharp and updated, I shoot weddings by servicing famous photo studios in need of a helping hand (as schedule allows). Most of the studios I service prohibit moi from posting photos due to branding strategies.
I believe in the cliche: teaching is learning twice. And to be a wedding photographer is to be one of the best photographers in the world.
BTW, many thanks to photographer Rodel Diaz for hiring moi for covering Boogie and Tin's wedding (photos above) under the Team Diaz Photography.

My Take On Adrian, The Fashion Designer
The creative force of fashion in Cavite, Adrian Rios has worked with most famous pro photogs in the land...and my first time with him. What makes Adrian so lucky (aside from his immense talent) is that he has a lot of his personal portraits taken by those same lensmen - for gratis! To add to his portrait collection, we both collaborated quickly on my take on "the Adrian" after work. My parting message to Adrian: a photo exhibit of all of his portraits is a titillating spectacle to the world of Philippine fashion and photography.

Happy Holidays With Jaques Borges!
It's has been a very busy 2012 and 2013 promises more of it for yours truly. I have found a "home" in the Digital Headquarters Studio shooting the tall Ms. Jaques Borges. I used the Nikon D800 with a short macro lens and-wow-can 36 megapixels really deliver all those details...that means more hours (!) retouching. Thanks for the images, Jaques, and may you folks enjoy them too!
