Corporate Photography For UNILAB

I just recently started archiving some of my corporate photography materials last year for future self-promotion. Just to let you all know that I do occassionally shoot for United Laboratories, Inc. (UNILAB), the Philippine's largest Filipino-owned, multi-national pharmaceutical company. UNILAB's gigantic corporate newsletter, Bayanihan, is published monthly in full living color throughout its pages! I scanned some newsletters wherein my photos made the cover page.

1st Philippine Star Ball

Covering ballroom dance competion is one of the most difficult events to cover in photography. Febuay 16, 2008 saw me busy at the Crown Plaza (in Ortigas) covering the 1st Philippine Star Ball competition. This prestigious event is liken to the Olympics of ballroom dancing. Armed with my Nikon, my favorite glass was the humble Nikkor 50mm f/1.8. What makes this event a nightmare was that the many competitors are occupying (dancing) the dance floor simultaneously with some judges on the floor! I was practically sitting on the carpet beside the dance floor with no elbowroom because the VIP guests were crowding ever nearer to the floor. To make matters worse, One of the English judge stood on the dance floor-right infront of my view most of the time. Dance photographer Carlo Villongco bought a step ladder to have a different vantage point. Because ABS-CBN channel 2 TV was covering the event, Carlo had only one unique spot where to mount his ladder away from the TV cams and audiences' view. Here are some of my photos. Enjoy!

Radical Make-over By Nina Dumpa

Welcome Ms. Nina Dumpa (http://ninadumpa.multiply.com) for that ultra glitz-glam look that you've been dying to have for very special moments, parties, etcetera...or even for your portfolio image boost. Nina created a new hair and make-up look for model in Joan Mazo's portfolio (www.geocities.com/joanscape18). The very capable Nina is trained in Hollywood, CA so she can do prosthetics for movies! She also worked in a US salon so her endurance is herculean to behold! Kudos Nina! Now Joan looks better than Beyonce! For all of Joan's photographs I used available light and a Nikon flash. Only one lense was used: the 50mm f1.8 Nikkor. Pictorial vernue was at Nina's Makati condo.

Jewelry & Model Shoot for Orogem Jewelry

Articles of gold, silver and precious stones are very tricky to shoot. Capturing Orogem jewelry on a model can be tough. Top professional model (and singer) in Julia Duncan had that perfectly fair complexion that suits well with jewelry. The actual shoot was at the boutique's Green Hills' boutique. For this project I enveloped Julia in a light tent for that diffused look and jewelry-friendly light. Julia's plethora of posing skills are legendary! I forgot to ask Julia to sing us a few lines before she left...

Mindoro Project Pictorial

I took a trip going to Sablayan, Mindoro where I documented the D-Shep Foundation Academy's 12th foundation day. The school is a non-profit organization owned by Dr. Shirely Pamintuan. Thank you doctor for all the convenient arrangements for this project. It's operating success is due to hardwork, prayers and generous donors here and abroad. What surprised me much was Mindoro's potential tourist and industrial potentials. The Pandan Island, for example, remains a secluded haven for scuba diving and sun bathing!

Gong Hei Fat Choi !!!

2008 is the Year of the Rat, in the Chinese Calendar. Let's all hope and pray for a more peaceful and prosperous new year ahead of us all. Happy new year! Or Gong Hei Fat Choi!
